NIGHTWOOD ANNOUNCE BIG CITY EP RELEASE DATE, VIDEO, TOUR
Montreal, QC, April 7, 2008 – Montreal’s female-fronted indie rock trio NIghtwood will release their Big City EP on Grenadine Records, across Canada, on May 13, 2008. The release is being supported with a video (Cave of the Spleen) and an Ontario/Quebec May tour.
Big City EP is a 6 song mini-album that is decidedly rock and roll in its approach. With two clean guitars and dirty hard-hitting drums, this indie trio bucks convention by delivering a big sound while delighting in a simplicity of instrumentation. Storytelling made musical, on this EP Nightwood introduce various musical protagonists including: a blind assassin, a blood-lusting Catherine Deneuve and Big Barbara the bikerider.
The video for Cave of the Spleen was shot and directed by Martin Reisch of *safe solvent. Created using 7300 individual photographs animated in sequence, it is an epic quest in both content and imagery. Available immediately on-line, it is to hit mainstream media alongside the CD release.

NIGHTWOOD PLANS SPRING CD EP ON GRENADINE
Montreal, QC, January 23, 2008 –After only 10 months of playing in its current incarnation, one of Montreal’s newest bands, Nightwood, has allied itself with Grenadine Records who will be releasing its first mini-album “Big City EP” (recorded by Martin Horn at Digital Bird Studios), distributed across Canada.
Nightwood is a female-fronted indie rock band with two clean guitars and a lone bearded drummer. Decidedly rock n’ roll in their approach, this trio bucks convention by delivering a big sound while delighting in the simplicity of its instrumentation. What you find are commanding dual vocals, at times eerily intertwined and at others sweetly harmonized, creating minimalist guitar music which succeeds in saying a lot with as little as possible. While there is no bass, Nightwood are still, through and through, a rock band. Influences include Patti Smith, PJ Harvey, The Velvet Underground, Sleater Kinney, Nick Cave and Low.
