Ch-ch-check it out! We’re starting a whole new feature on the blog about style. Yup. Because what people wear is interesting! We’re inspired by the folks over at Worn Fashion Journal and ideas like the ones articulated in the book It’s So You as well as style blogs like Bleach Black and others. We’ve tentatively named this little ol’ feature Dressed in Black in honour of the tune by The Shangri-Las cuz it’s a little moody sounding. You’ll be able to locate this series by clicking on the Style & Fashion category below.
- So first up we have Kathleen, a lovely local lady with tons of talent and kookiness! You may recognize her from Lickety Split shenanigans or The Bikeriders music video or from her band Twelve Year Old Cowards. So without any further ado, we present Kathleen’s answers to our questionnaire!
In 5 words or less, describe your style:
Colorful, disjointed, silly, slutty, slightly sloppy.

2) I have a high-waisted black leather pencil skirt that is the absolute bottoms.
Fashion trend you swore you would not partake in but have fallen victim to (and now kind of love): (example: skinny jeans)

If you had to get a knuckle tattoo, what would it read?

Biggest fashion pet peeve?

2) Not enough clothes are made for bums. Like, to emphasize the bum.
Your favourite style icon?
I finally have one!! M.I.A. all the way. If I could jump into her closet and steal her clothes… I would feel bad because she seems so rad.

style idol!
Favourite shoppes?
Not really but I was in the Adidas store recently and it was awesome – leopard-print hoodie with paws and ears, redonk sneakers…
Your best vintage find/DIY fasion project?
I have a black vintage leather jacket that I bought for $20 when I was 15 at this church-owned second-hand store in Ayer’s Cliff. It’s pretty sweet.
Also some earrings I inherited from my great aunt that are made from 1-Lira Turkish coins and go with everything.
What do you see yourself wearing in 5 years?
In 5 years I hope I won’t have any clothes in my closet that are just… meh. I want my style to be less slapdash and more haberdash, if you know what I mean.
