Epic. Two. Day. Road. Trip.
We will post video + photos + road trip notes this weekend but for now we will share our free association/hazy recollections of the actual Marnie Stern show. Check back for more about our visit to the House of Guitars and the George Eastman House motion picture archives!!! Here goes nuthin:
- The Bug Jar! Marnie Stern show! Almost wasn’t let into the venue cuz Amber forgot her ID even after Erin reminded her to bring it. Camera also left behind, hence this word association +cell phone pictures…ugh. Our lovely hosts Antonella and Travis hanging with us at the bar, drinking gingerale and/or Genesee Cream Ale ($1.50!! For 5.1%!), Genesee made from a river that flows northward. Met folks like: Kevin the “talent buyer” (who Erin addressed as “Hi I’m talent. Would you buy me?”) + Charlie Allan the projectionist + Henry + Ian + Luke + Jas + etc, chatted up Marnie and bandmates Nithin and Malia regarding: Capri cigarettes/small dogs/the two solitudes of Quebec/Montreal/French girlfriends/touring and sleeping in chancy situations versus hotels (Marnie et le band now sleep in hotels)/also vaginas and kissing zippers as an elaboration on Marnie’s kissing booth antics. Show was awesome but short, lots of air guitar and devil sign throwing from a dude in the front “row”. Erin briefly turns into a psycho fan and steals a set list from the stage. Also, we witnessed some kissing booth action (Marnie on girl), please see photos below. Amber did the beer fountain magic upon request for Luke after Erin brought up her her expert execuation of that particular skill (to spray a perfect stream of beer across someone or something). Dance party with the band plus young men to Talking Heads (Psycho Killer). Erin receiving unsolicited hug and kiss from Marnie. Getting a ride home from the talent buyer! Late night drunken twittering + interwebbyness. Amber receives unsolicited bedtime cuddle from Erin. Etc, etc and parts left out prolly.
