Mitz!
- Dressed in Black: We’ve named this blog column in honour of the tune by The Shangri-Las cuz it’s a little moody sounding…like us! Check out other entries in this series by clicking on the Style & Fashion category below. Now without any further ado, our tenth interviewee, Mitz Takahashi:
In 5 words or less, describe your style:
“Who let the Mitz out?”
Describe two items in your closet that you love:
Black cardigan my grandmother made for my dad when he was 13. And my dad’s plain white t-shirt with low U-neck from when he was a teenage science nerd which has 40 years and two generations of arm pit stain now.

Fashion trend you swore you would not partake in but have fallen victim to (and now kind of love):
Yep, skinny jeans…for sure and touques like any other Canadians. And also striped shirts, sailor-style.
If you had to get a knuckle tattoo, what would it read?
” WWJCD (what would Jackie Chan do?)”

What do you listen to when getting ready to go out/stay in?
Usually, 60s girl groups or French yeh-yeh to northern soul stuff. Remixed with my cat, Moses saying, “please feed me before you leave!”
Biggest fashion pet peeve?
Plaid shirts everywhere…like Canadian Tire uniforms. Too much for me.

Your favourite style icon?
I really don’t have one but maybe my dad who was not really a cool dresser in his days but I used to wear his clothes. Or your grandpa’s.
Favourite shoppes?
Thrift stores and UNIQLO (Japan).
Your best vintage find/DIY fashion project?
A jumper with zippers that go all the way around the neck. It’s like clothing from the future.
What do you see yourself wearing in 5 years?
Same thing. simple clothing which is usually timeless. I don’t wear many clothes with logos or writings or crazy designs. They tend to go out of style or I lose interest. I always wear simple stuff. Black, brown, white, navy, blue, like, colour of skin doesn’t matter. We all are the same. Give peace a chance, we are the world. Where am I?

- Mitz Takahashi grew up in Osaka, Japan and he came to Canada to smoke some salmon and speed-walk in the Terry Fox Marathon of Hope. He enjoys cooking and eating and not doing dishes. He plays in a band called, Mavo. He takes a shower every day. He gives 120% to everything he does and when his teammate is injured, he steps up to the plate and delivers. In other words, he lives his life, fast and furious: Montreal Drift.
