Sick Friend are unintentionally elusive, having worked intensely on an album’s worth of tunes over the past year only to throw them out in order to re-record them next month! But here they are, as part of the March Montreal Sessions. They played an excellent live set, which you can listen to below, and then [...]

Our dear friend, Maximilien Bouchard, took some photos of our set on Saturday night at Divan Orange. Thanks Max! (Check out his sweet croon on the tune “Oh how I walked down your street“) …And your new desktop background, courtesy of NASA: Montreal at night as seen from the cosmos!

Hey. Hey. We know it’s hot. So this is Nightwood’s own public service announcement about how to stay cool in the Montreal heat. Sorta. Indie music lovers need as much cool down pointers as elderly folk, else they waste away from a combination of too many beers, popsicles and, oh yes, iced coffee (we’re looking [...]

Two households, both alike in dignity, In fair Verona, where we lay our scene, From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean. From forth the fatal loins of these two foes A pair of star-cross’d lovers take their life; Whole misadventured piteous overthrows Do with their death bury their [...]
Does they know it’s Earth Day?

This looks ultra-violent to Mama Nature, however, we’re pretty sure it’s part of the waterfront park maintenance in our Verdun neighbourhood, here in Montreal. Our hypothesis is that they’ve marked this tree with green paint for clean-up because it was chomped down by a beaver. Rad looking, non? The Verdun shoreline park is called Des [...]

Hey there, here’s a quick refresher about why it’s important to remember that your politics are worth fighting for, archiving and talking about: a recent interview with Kathleen Hanna over on GritTV on the eve of her “papers” (zines, correspondence, etc) being donated to NYU. Kathleen Hanna was a member of the band Bikini Kill [...]
